Asking to Play Through a Slower Group
Wait for a pause, ask politely, accept the answer gracefully.
Do
- Wait for a natural pause (end of a hole, tee box)
- Be polite and non-confrontational — they may not realize they're slow
- If they decline, accept it gracefully and wait
Don't
- Don't hit into the group ahead to signal impatience — this is dangerous and rude
- Don't tailgate the group ahead without asking
Beginner-safe script
“Excuse me, would you mind if our group played through? We seem to be moving a bit faster today.”
Why it matters
Asking politely is always better than fuming or making passive-aggressive moves on the course.
