Bringing Kids or Guests to the Course

Brief kids and guests on basics before they play. Choose an appropriate venue.

Do

  • Teach kids basic rules before they play (quiet on swings, no running near greens)
  • Check the course's junior policy — age limits and supervised play rules
  • Brief guests on dress code and basic etiquette before arrival
  • Choose a beginner-friendly, relaxed course (municipal, par-3) for kids and guests

Don't

  • Don't bring kids without explaining the noise/movement rules
  • Don't bring a guest who refuses to engage with the basics
  • Don't let kids run ahead unsupervised on the course

Beginner-safe script

“Before we start: please stay quiet when others are hitting, and don't run near the greens. Sound good?”

Why it matters

A great first experience introduces someone to golf for life. A bad one puts them off it forever.
