Phone and Music Etiquette

Phone silent. Music only if everyone agrees and it's quiet.

Do

  • Set your phone to silent or vibrate before you start
  • Step away from the group if you must take a call
  • If you play music from a speaker, ask your playing partners first — many prefer silence
  • Keep music volume low enough that it doesn't carry to other groups

Don't

  • Don't answer your phone on the tee box or green
  • Don't play music without asking your group
  • Don't scroll social media while others are hitting — pay attention

Beginner-safe script

“Would anyone mind if I played some quiet music? Happy to turn it off if it bothers anyone.”

Why it matters

Golf is a contemplative game for many. Respecting others' experience with phone and music etiquette builds good relationships.
