Raking Bunkers After a Shot
Rake your footprints after every bunker shot. Leave the rake outside.
Do
- After playing from a bunker, rake all footprints and club marks smooth
- Start at the entry point and rake in the direction of the shot toward the edge
- Place the rake outside the bunker (parallel to the edge, handle toward the fairway) when done
- Leave the bunker looking like no one was there
Don't
- Don't leave footprints — someone else's ball will land in them
- Don't leave the rake in the bunker if course rules say outside (check with pro shop)
Beginner-safe script
“No script — just rake thoroughly every time.”
Why it matters
Footprints and unraked bunkers create unfair lies for subsequent players. Golden rule: leave it better than you found it.
