Talking and Noise During Swings
Shut up and stand still the second someone is about to swing.
Do
- Be quiet and still when anyone is addressing their ball or in their swing
- Wait until the ball is in the air before talking or walking
- Whisper or stay silent on the green when others are putting
Don't
- Don't talk, move, or jingle coins/keys during another player's swing
- Don't say anything right as someone starts their backswing
- Don't narrate your own round loudly while someone else is playing
Beginner-safe script
“If you talk at the wrong time: 'Sorry about that — I'll wait!'”
Why it matters
Concentration is essential for a good golf swing. Unwanted noise or movement is one of the biggest on-course frustrations.
