Waving a Faster Group Through
If they've waited twice, wave them through. It takes 5 minutes and everyone's happier.
Do
- If the group behind you is constantly waiting on two or more holes, invite them to play through
- Wave your arm to get their attention, then step aside and gesture them forward
- Let the faster group hit all their shots before continuing
- Smile and wave — it's a friendly gesture
Don't
- Don't ignore a backing-up group for multiple holes
- Don't rush through the wave-through and accidentally interfere with their shot
Beginner-safe script
“Hey, would you like to play through? We're moving slowly — please go ahead!”
Why it matters
Waves-through reduce frustration on-course and are considered a gracious, considerate act.
