Where to Stand While Others Are Hitting

Do

• Stand to the side and slightly behind the person hitting — never in front or directly behind
• Stand far enough away to be out of their peripheral vision
• On the tee, stand to the side of the tee markers, not behind them
• On the fairway, stand at a safe angle — never directly in the line of flight

Don't

• Don't stand directly behind or in front of someone swinging
• Don't stand on or near the line of the shot (especially on the tee)
• Don't cast shadows over someone's ball or putt line

“No script — just pay attention to where you're standing.”

Why it matters

An errant shot or club fragment in the wrong direction could cause injury. Also, movement distracts the player.
