Downhill Lie
When the ball is above the target — shooting downhill to the fairway or green.
Grip
Standard. Be ready for the club to feel like it wants to dig.
Stance
Widen for stability. Body must lean into the slope — front shoulder lower.
Ball position
Back of center (the slope delofts the club).
Posture
Match the slope — front shoulder lower. Weight distributed downslope (on front foot).
Swing thought
Follow the slope through impact. Your finish will be lower than normal — that's fine.
Contact goal
Thin-ish contact is common; focus on ball first. Ball will launch lower and run out. Take less club.
Common mistake
Standing straight up on a downhill and digging the ground behind the ball. Match the slope with your body.
One-minute drill
Practice address position on a slope at home — feel the shoulder tilt and notice how different it is from flat ground.
This is a beginner refresher, not professional instruction — see a PGA pro for swing changes.
