Hybrid (3H, 4H, 5H)
Long approach shots 130–180 yards, tee shots on tight holes, par-3s over 140y.
Grip
Standard grip. Light pressure — don't strangle it.
Stance
Shoulder-width or slightly narrower. Feet slightly flared.
Ball position
Center to just forward of center of stance.
Posture
Upright with a comfortable hip hinge. Chin up — make room for the shoulder turn.
Swing thought
Treat it like a long iron — not a fairway wood. Swing through the ball with a slight downward strike.
Contact goal
Ball-first contact with a shallow divot. The ball should launch high and land softly.
Common mistake
Standing too far from the ball (hybrid has a longer shaft than irons). Check that arms hang naturally at address.
One-minute drill
Hit 5 shots with a short, compact swing focusing only on clean ball-first contact. Then build up to a full swing.
This is a beginner refresher, not professional instruction — see a PGA pro for swing changes.
