Into Wind — Low Punch Shot
Any time you're hitting directly into a significant headwind (10+ mph).
Grip
Grip down ½–1 inch. This de-distances and increases control.
Stance
Slightly narrower. Open just a touch.
Ball position
Back of center to promote a lower launch.
Posture
Hands well forward at address (ahead of the ball). This de-lofts the club.
Swing thought
Three-quarter backswing. Accelerate through firmly. Low finish (hands below shoulder height). 'Trap it.'
Contact goal
Low, boring ball flight. Less height = less wind effect.
Common mistake
Swinging harder into the wind. This increases backspin and the wind 'balloons' the ball. Swing easier, ball position back, low finish.
One-minute drill
Hit 5 shots with ball back in stance and low finish. Note how the trajectory is lower and more penetrating.
This is a beginner refresher, not professional instruction — see a PGA pro for swing changes.
