Posture Basics — Every Full Swing
Every full swing, every time.
Grip
Take your grip before setting up to the ball. Change of grip mid-setup introduces tension.
Stance
Feet shoulder-width (adjust per club). Toes slightly flared.
Ball position
Club-dependent — see individual tips.
Posture
Stand tall. Hinge from the hips (not the waist). Let arms hang naturally below shoulders. Slight knee flex. Chin up and away from chest — makes room for shoulder turn. Back straight (not arched, not slumped).
Swing thought
Athletic posture: looks like a shortstop about to field a ground ball. Alert, balanced, loose.
Contact goal
Good posture = consistent bottom of the swing arc = consistent contact.
Common mistake
Bending from the waist (rounding the back) instead of hinging from the hips. This restricts the turn and forces compensations.
One-minute drill
Stand with club behind your back across your shoulder blades. Hinge from hips until your spine angle matches your hip fold. This is correct posture.
This is a beginner refresher, not professional instruction — see a PGA pro for swing changes.
