Uphill Lie
Any time your ball is on an upslope, approaching the green or from fairway.
Grip
Standard grip. Lighter grip pressure helps with balance on slopes.
Stance
Widen stance slightly for stability. Tilt body to match the slope — rear shoulder lower.
Ball position
Slightly forward of normal for the club you're using.
Posture
Lean with the slope — don't fight it. Left shoulder (for right-handers) should feel higher than normal.
Swing thought
Swing along the slope upward. Don't swing into the hill — let the club follow the ground angle.
Contact goal
Clean contact. The ball will fly higher and shorter than normal. Take one more club.
Common mistake
Leaning back into the slope or putting too much weight downhill, causing a fall-back and thin/pulled shot.
One-minute drill
Stand sideways on a slope and feel the weight naturally distributing. Now set up for a shot and note how different your balance feels.
This is a beginner refresher, not professional instruction — see a PGA pro for swing changes.
