Ball Marker
Equipment
Explained Simply
A small flat object — usually a coin or a branded disc — used to mark the position of your ball on the putting green before lifting it.
Example
“Place a quarter or a dedicated ball marker directly behind your ball, then lift the ball to clean it or move out of a partner's line.”
Why it matters
You must mark your ball before lifting it on the green. Any small flat object works — most golfers carry a coin or buy a branded marker.
Common beginner mistake
Using a tee as a ball marker — it can create an unfair spot on the green and makes replacement harder than a flat marker.
