Eagle
Scoring
Explained Simply
Finishing a hole in two strokes LESS than par. On a par-5, an eagle is a score of 3.
Example
“You reach the green in 2 shots on a par-5 and make the putt = 3 = eagle.”
Why it matters
Eagles are rare and exciting. For beginners, they usually happen as a lucky long putt or chip-in on a par-4 or par-5.
Common beginner mistake
Deliberately going for eagle on a par-5 in two shots when you're a beginner — the risk rarely pays off.
