Fore!

Etiquette

Explained Simply

A warning shouted loudly to alert other players that a ball is heading their way. Shout it IMMEDIATELY — don't wait.

Example

“Your drive hooks toward a group on an adjacent fairway. Shout 'FORE LEFT!' as loud as you can the moment you see it heading their way.”

Why it matters

A golf ball can travel at 100+ mph. 'Fore!' gives people time to duck and cover their head. Failing to shout it when needed is dangerous and inexcusable.

Common beginner mistake

Waiting to see if the ball is going to miss before shouting. Shout the second there's any doubt.
