Ready Golf
Etiquette
Explained Simply
Playing your shot when you are ready, rather than waiting strictly for farthest-from-hole to always go first. Encouraged in casual rounds to speed up play.
Example
“Your partner is 200y from the green, you're 150y. Their shot would have honors but they're still checking the wind. You're ready — go ahead and play.”
Why it matters
Ready golf can save 15–20 minutes per round. The USGA and PGA actively encourage it in casual play.
Common beginner mistake
Waiting for someone across the fairway who is clearly not ready, when you could safely play your shot.
