Stance

Shot Types

Explained Simply

How you position your feet relative to the ball and your target line. Width, direction, and ball position all form your stance.

Example

“For a 7-iron: feet shoulder-width apart, ball roughly in the middle of your stance, toes slightly flared.”

Why it matters

Proper stance gives balance and power. Too narrow = falling over; too wide = restricted hip turn.

Common beginner mistake

Standing too close to or too far from the ball. A proper arm hang (slight bend from hips, arms hanging naturally) determines distance.
