Tipping (Caddie and Staff)

Etiquette

Explained Simply

It is customary to tip caddies, bag drop attendants, and cart staff after your round. Typical caddie tip: $20–50+ depending on service. Bag drop: $2–5 per bag.

Example

“After a looper (caddie) carries your bag for 18 holes, tips the caddie $40 in cash — about 25–50% of the caddie fee.”

Why it matters

Golf course staff earn a significant portion of their income from tips. Tipping is expected and appreciated at courses with caddie or cart service.

Common beginner mistake

Forgetting to tip at courses where caddies or bag service is part of the experience. Carry cash.
