Gimme
Common Phrases
Explained Simply
A very short putt (usually inside the grip-length of your putter) that your playing partners agree to concede without you actually putting. Casual play only.
Example
“Your ball is 8 inches from the hole. Your partner says 'that's good' — you pick it up and count it as holed.”
Why it matters
Speeds up pace of play on short putts. In match play, conceding a putt is a legitimate move. In stroke play, all putts must be holed.
Common beginner mistake
Assuming every short putt is automatically a gimme. Always wait for the offer — don't pick up without being told it's good.
