Pin / Flagstick
Course Areas
Explained Simply
The pole (with a flag on top) placed in the hole on the green so you can see where the hole is from a distance.
Example
“The pin is in the back of the green — a 165-yard shot to the flag is actually 170 yards.”
Why it matters
You can now leave the flagstick in while putting under current rules — and it may even help on longer putts.
Common beginner mistake
Not knowing where the pin is in relation to the yardage markers. Always note front/middle/back of green.
