Pin High
Common Phrases
Explained Simply
When your approach shot lands on the correct line but at the same distance from the tee as the flagstick — neither short nor long, just at the right depth.
Example
“You hit an approach that finishes 15 feet left of the hole, but perfectly level with the pin. That's pin high — great distance, just off line.”
Why it matters
Pin high is a positive — it means your distance control was good. The missed shot was directional, not in length.
Common beginner mistake
Thinking pin high means you made it to the green. It means the ball is level with the hole — could be on the green, short of it, or even past if it rolled.
