Playing Through
Etiquette
Explained Simply
When a faster group behind you is waved ahead of your group because they're being held up. A common and polite courtesy.
Example
“A twosome behind your foursome has been waiting on two holes. Invite them: 'Would you like to play through?' Step aside and let them hit.”
Why it matters
Keeps pace of play good for everyone on the course. Being invited to play through is not rude — it's appreciated.
Common beginner mistake
Being oblivious to the group behind you and never offering to wave them through when you're playing slowly.
