Press
Game Formats
Explained Simply
A new bet started mid-round, typically when a player is losing by 2+ holes. The original bet continues alongside the new 'press' bet.
Example
“You're down 2 holes in a Nassau. You 'press' — a new side bet starts from that hole to the end of the side.”
Why it matters
Presses add action and give trailing players a chance to recover money. Usually agreed upon before the round.
Common beginner mistake
Not setting press rules before the round and arguing mid-game about whether a press was valid.
