The Turn
Common Phrases
Explained Simply
The transition between the front 9 and the back 9 — usually around hole 10 — where players often stop briefly for drinks, snacks, or a bathroom break.
Example
“After finishing hole 9, your group swings by the halfway house at the turn to grab hot dogs and Gatorade before heading to hole 10.”
Why it matters
The turn is a natural mid-round checkpoint. Keep the stop short — 5 minutes max — so you don't lose your slot or slow the groups behind you.
Common beginner mistake
Taking a 20-minute break at the turn to eat a full meal. Grab something quick and keep moving.
