Double Bogey
Scoring
Explained Simply
Finishing a hole in two strokes MORE than par. On a par-4, a double bogey is a score of 6.
Example
“Par-4 hole, you take 6 strokes total = double bogey.”
Why it matters
Doubles happen to everyone. The key skill is limiting how many you get. Avoiding triple bogeys or worse is more impactful for beginners than trying to make pars.
Common beginner mistake
Trying to make up for a double by taking unnecessary risks on the next hole, which often leads to more doubles.
