Fade

Shot Types

Explained Simply

A controlled, slight left-to-right curve (for right-handers) that typically holds its line into the wind. The 'good' version of a slice.

Example

“Aim slightly left of the target and let the ball gently drift right onto the flag.”

Why it matters

Many pros intentionally play a fade for control and soft landing. Easier to control than a draw for many players.

Common beginner mistake

Confusing an uncontrolled slice with a controlled fade — they look similar but one is a mistake, one is intentional.
