Slice
Shot Types
Explained Simply
A shot that curves severely to the right (for right-handed golfers) due to a steep out-to-in swing path combined with an open clubface.
Example
“You swing and the ball starts left then curves dramatically right into the rough or out of bounds.”
Why it matters
The most common mistake among beginners. A slice loses distance and accuracy. See a PGA pro for a fix.
Common beginner mistake
Trying to correct a slice by aiming further left — you'll just slice more. The fix requires changing swing path, not aim.
