Quadruple Bogey

Scoring

Explained Simply

Finishing a hole in four strokes more than par. On a par-4, a quadruple bogey (or 'quad') is a score of 8.

Example

“Two shots in the water on a par-4 plus a three-putt = 8 strokes = quadruple bogey.”

Why it matters

Big numbers wreck scorecards. Recognizing when a hole is going sideways and playing safely to limit damage is a key beginner skill.

Common beginner mistake

Compounding mistakes by trying hero shots after a bad swing. Take your medicine, punch out, and stop the bleeding.
