Rangefinder
Equipment
Explained Simply
A handheld laser or GPS device that measures the exact distance from your position to the pin, a bunker, or other targets on the course.
Example
“Point the rangefinder at the flag, press the button, and the display reads '147 yards.' You now know exactly which club to hit.”
Why it matters
Rangefinders remove guesswork and help you hit the right club. Allowed in most recreational play; check tournament rules before using one in competition.
Common beginner mistake
Measuring to the front of the pin when the cup is actually cut to the back of the green — that could mean an extra 20–30 yards.
